A range of top quality Saumur Champigny...

We make four distinct styles of Saumur Champigny:

Our ‘base’ cuvee, and the one we produce the most of, is the ‘Tuffe’, formally called “Grande Cuvé” This is made from grapes from 15 different plots specially selected to produce a wine that is fresh, aromatic, soft but with good structure. This may be our ‘base’ cuvée, but it is none-the-less a very classy wine.

This is followed by three special cuvées, our ‘‘grands crus’ selected from the best vines, Fours à Chaux, les Fevettes and Lisagathe.  

… dry whites and sweet wines for those in the know...

Our whites, made from Chenin Blanc are either vinified as dry wines (Saumur Blanc) or, when the weather permits, as sweet moelleux or liquoreux (Coteaux de Saumur).

For centuries, Dampierre is well known as one of the greatest terroirs for the chenin and we endeavour to maintain the tradition.We pumper our 4 little plots of chenin and control the yield by short pruning, severe debudding and, if necessary, green harvest during summer, so the yield is about 30 hl/ha. Of course harvest is hand picked, in several « tris » (visits)

- for dry whites we choose the golden grapes, botrytis-free
- for the Coteauxde Saumur, first we need a great sunny vintage and a nice october weather : morning fog, sun and dry wind. Then we check the progression of noble rot and concentration and eventually go for a special « tri » with a small team of experienced cutters.

… and, only just recently available, an appealingly aromatic Rosé bubbly with an elegant sparkle

And ever since 2007 we can add another most astonishing wine to our list, our bubbly Saumur Brut Rosé: Rosanna.
